If your decking boards and railing are not in great shape but the foundation and deck framing system are sound - We can replace the walking surface and deck railings with new composite materials. We can also add fascia, skirting, new staircases or low voltage lights.
It's an ideal way to save time and money, while enjoying all composite benefits over wood.
Over time, wooden decks show signs of aging. Here are the steps we take to resurface your deck.
We check joists spacing and overall condition of framing to determine if the structure is sound and if the resurfacing system is doable for your project.
After obtaining any necessary building permits, we carefully remove and discard the old decking and railing, leaving the substructure and framing in place.
We inspect all framing/framing hardware for code compliance, structural integrity and compliance with the current code. Replace any damaged hardware, add necessary bolts for ledger board, install new flashing, install new blocking, add hurricane ties and ensure a "continuous load path".
To ensure a level surface for the composite boards, we make sure that the joists are level and even with each other. We may need to shim or shave the joists to make them level and even.
We install new composite decking. For most of the projects a picture frame is included. Composite is installed with hidden fasteners
We will also install fascia, new staircase, low voltage lights or deck skirts. All the stairs will have new stringers and installed to meet code or composite installation requirements. Low voltage lights will have a transformer and require an outlet. For deck skirt you can opt for lattice and trims, composite or pvc cladding.
With the deck makeover complete, the new composite decking and railing looks great and ready for years of low maintenance enjoyment.
